Whats on over the summer

The final present wrap

Dive Report

The last show for the year and Bron and Anth are sad (the moment of silence doesn't really work on radio). The weather for summer - hot and could be cool some days, with rain.

Reefwatch (from last weeks show) had a great launch last week - to become involved call 8341 7446.

During the week the EU has banned single hull vessels from carrying fuel oil through EU waters - following the Prestige disaster off Spain.

DNRE has been cleaved to produce a Dept of Sustainability and Environment (with bits of NRE and Infrastructure). Lets see what happens over summer.

Watch out for the new competition with no prize - send us your daggy coastal (no porn please) postcard from your holiday destination. Write on the back that you are doing, and we will read out the best/worst on air next year.

If we do say so ourselves, what a year - month by month
February - all about the politics of marine parks
March - Clean Up Australia and Sea Week, and we were visited by David Bellamy, David Suzuki and Sylvia Earle
April - Seals on Kangaroo Island, windfarms and education
May - Whale conservation, medical issues with diving and the then Minister joned us
June - Marine National Parks Month and we launched the marine tat competition and Brett did winter diving
July - Anths Art walk, a fish vet, WA fisheries and the new Safety Beach issue
August - Radiothon and snorkling in the bay
September - Marine Emblem month and the winners of the tat competition
October - sharks, the first dive, the Enterprize, and the kids at Angelsea (they love the sharks - its about the teeth) and watch out for the elephants
November -

Alex from the Marine Discovery Centre wants everyone to get their face wet from the day after boxing day to just before Australia Day.

Watch out for the Rip Trip, where you get to hear all about the shipwrecks and see the rip and the wirlpools in the rip at the entrance to the Bay. Apart from that, there are canoe trips, rockpool rambles and even crafts. Some of the events are free and others have a small charge. For more info call the Centre on (03) 5258 3344 for a program.

Angeline from AMCS wants people to get together over the summer. It starts with a barbie at 4:30pm today. In January it is a trip to the Aquerium and a dinner, and February it is a session down at the Octupuses Garden followed by another barbie. You need to be a member, call Angeline 0412 368 193 or the branch president Vicki on 0401 999 325

These are not books this time, but how about:
a shark head puppet that squirts people (4.5/5 for novelty)
a fish that pokes its tounge out
sox with the fish motif
Dead Sea mineral bath salts
(do they come in scrolls)
Coffee mugs and marine ceramics - try the St Kilda Sunday Market

Resin soap holders in a marine theme
Fridge magnets with the marine images
A superball, with a coral reef inside it.

Marine themed tiles

"Sky Blue"

"Blue Christmas "

"I live for the Sun"

Vivid Ultramarine

Elvis (if you need the surname you are in real strife)

The Sun Rays

"I am organising good weather until Feb - God and I have got this thing going"

To work out what to do on any given day - if the wind is from the South - south shores of Port Phillip Bay
West - anywhere east of Portland will be fine
Easterlies - eastern shores of the bay and the west of Westernport Bay
Northerlies - head for the ocean beaches
