David, Bron and Anth are in the studio with Cath pushing our buttons. Bron is thinking is is a beautiful day out there and that she shouldn't have had that last beer last night.

Bron seems to have the weather down pat as the year draws to an end. Today will be great, and the rest of the week is a lottery of heat.

The collective nouns: for dogfish it is a troop, a swarm of dragonnet fish and a trip of dotterels.

Thanks to our listener in the Solomon Islands -it is great to get the feedback. Thanks to Jane for the ideas on merchandise, and the callers who gave us the wonderful feedback on the show.

Congratulations to Jan, Sarah, Roger, Loren, Martin, Georgina, Paul, Sue and Cassie for taking away our giveaway in a big day on the phones.

"Greeneology" is a great book by Tanya Ha with day to day hints for how to put the ecological sustainability ideas into practice

"Into the Blue" by Tony Horwith is a read about following in the footsteps of Cook and the Endeavor to see what the impact has been on the communities he touched.

"In search of Moby Dick" is by Tim Severin and the story of a journey taken to follow the trail of the whale hunters.

"The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" by Robert Holden is the story of William Chamberlain - the Whaling Captain who was kidnapped as a boy and put to sea, making his way up the ranks to success as a sea Captain

"Batavia's graveyard" by Mike Dash and the sorry story of a Dutch sailor who crashed his boat into the Abrohlos islands off WA, and then ate most of his crew.

There is a great tide and light chart available that has been described at the best in the world. To buy one, call 1800 999 970 and place a phone order.

Look out for the marine gel snowball and the big stuffed fish that you can get at the Camberwell market and the St Kilda market.

"The Mermaids Purse" by Ted Hughes is a book of poems with a marine bent that makes a good gift.

For something active try a snorkel or a rockpool ramble from the Marine Discovery Centre. Book by calling (03) 52583344.

The book has everything you could want to know about the Endeavor (and some things you didn't). Ray has collected information from a wide range of sources to try and generate a real picture of what really happened. It was really hard to rely on the ships log as there was a very limited space to write, so focused on the facts, and gave little indication of what went on. The key source of information was one of the Botanic artists called Parkinson. As a recorder of fact, a Quaker and a personable man, his sketches and drawing were a great source of information that was reliable.

The book H.M. Bark Endeavor is a great book for anyone who wants to get to the level of detail about the boat that started our European history. It is published by Melbourne University Press

" Half and hour in the afternoon"

" Scary Song "

" Souvenirs"

Brett reckons he looks like a fridge. Bay is flat as a tack, clean and warm. The ocean is not as flat, but still clean and warm. The bay is full of bait fish and krill, and Brett has been having fun making holes in the swarms. There will be a big bird feeding frenzy soon.

For this afternoon - head to the Mornington to Portsea area. Just hang around of the Rye pier and watch the fish swim past.

The water was 19 yesterday.
