Minnows come in shoals, swarms, steams and streams.

Adele from Oregon (US), emailed us about what whales in "Whale Rider" were. They are Southern Right Whales - thanks to Marg who heard it on Filmbuffs.

John also dropped us an email about the latest book he read - about the place of Cod in history. We will pass it on to Dave to review.

Its Naidoc Week and there are a heap of different activities happening. Head to the website to get the full details. If you want to attend the ball, call Diedre on (03) 9480 6377

Wilsons Prom is the southern most park - fall off the cliff and you are in the Marine National Park. It is the largest one - 15,500 ha and covers diverse environments - Mother natures biodiversity mixing bowl. Getting to the Park is a work with your snorkeling gear and walk from Tidal river to Oberon Bay. You can also do it my boat, esp the larger boats that operate out of Port Welshpool.

The dive trips are great, as the 30 m cliffs are sheer drop offs, the water is clear and the invertebrates are fantastic. The Prom is the place to see that environment in Victoria.

If you want more information, head to the Parks website

The Maritime Heritage Unit look after more than just shipwrecks... all maritime infrastructure in Victoriaas well - like jetties and lighthouses etc. The also look after the Act with rules like not taking anything from Wrecks.

The community is a key part of policing the rules, please call the police or Heritage Victoria on 03 9655 6519 if you see someone plundering a wreck site..

National Archaeology Week went very well.

The unit is creating a range of on-line databases of the artifacts that are in their collection. It covers cannons and bottles though to ships parts, a dining table and a whole range of paraphernalia.

The City of Launceston (an early Tassie ferry), a steamer wrecked in 1865, but being hit by another ship. It is a protected site at the moment as it is a very intact site, and it is really needed to protect the history for study.

August 8 and 9 will be the next big Marine Archeology Course. For more info call (03) 9655 6519 and ask for the Maritime Unit.

Who knows where Brett is today - probably underwater having a good time. Looks like it will be pretty gross outside the heads as the day goes on.
