Anth, Dave and Peter are all a bit older than usual, but the weather is fantastic. Bron is off relaxing so the the weather was very short but no where near as interesting.

Was is a squid, or octopus - It was 21 ft long, thick and fibrous but looked a lot like whale blubber bits. That was back in the 1890's and nobody was really sure what it was or what to call it. They ranged from whale, to rays, to Nautilus to giant squid or occy.

In the 1950's they were called scuttles in the West Indies - because of their habits of scuttling boats.

The one found in Tasmania in the 1960's named them Globsters, and the were declared to be bits torn off whales.

Another one turned up last year and a bit of DNA testing was done - it was a bit of a whale.

There is a history of seamonsters around Queenscliff - To the point where experienced fisherman claim to have shot one and a group of road workers tried to catch a similar creature.

The interview played was recorded about 60 years after the event from one of the fisherman.

Sky blue, no white, lovely in Rye, a bit grotty on the ocean side. The water temp is a bit cold (11 C) and he has not seen any sea monsters (except in the mirror).
