Bron flew solo today, ably assisted by Peter. Cath the panel goddess kept Bron and Pete honest, with the RRR techo gremlins wreaking havoc in Studio 1.

Anth being down in Hobart (he said it was for a conference, but our suspicions are that he has actually snuck down to Antarctica where he is chasing Leopard Seals and imitating Adelie Penguins.

The weather was simple - . Enjoy your weekend, as there's nothing but crap ahead (weatherwise, at any rate).

Hope everyone caught the ABC program "Reality Bites" last Tuesday evening, which featured our Southern Seas and the stunning range of animals to be found there.

Radio Marinara's esteemed resident historian, Jeff Maynard, is heading up to Sydney this week for the 4 day Surf Dive Action Show at the Sydney Entertainment Centre (15-18th July). He will be part of the Historical Diving Society stand (whether as an exhibit or an exhibitor we're not sure) which will be showcasing all manner of things related to early diving. If you're heading up, make sure to say hello!

Professor Barry Hart, has recently been involved in completing a "Report Card" regarding integrating catchment management in the Gippsland Region. What is the Catchment? Basically, it's from the ocean and the Gippsland Lakes pretty much right up toward the mountain ranges to the north.

It's an idea they pinched from the Queenslanders, to assess how effective our catchment management strategies currently rate. Basically, we needed to know how healthy the catchment is, and if we're spending our money in the right way.

This one is about marine links with the Australian Royal Family.

The first good one was King Canute II - around 1016. His claim to fame was that he attempted to stop the waves coming in. His spin doctors said it was an effort to prove to his followers that Kings could not do that. hmmmm. The kings real name was Mr Svegnsson and he was also the King of Denmark and Norway.

Henry VIII was next around 1510. He became King at 19, and immediatly build a Navy, with a flagship "The Mary Rose". It was unique as it had portholes you could close. His navy was used to defend England from the Scots in the North and France in the south - although at that time a chunk of France was already England. He won the first war by giving his sister to the French king, and after a major victory in 1545, the Mary Rose sank at the afterparty. It was raised 450 years later and is on display in the UK.

Queen Elizabeth I (1570) was the patron of the journey of Francis Drake to circumnavigate the world.

King James II was invited to leave England after he declared he was Catholic.. He had to do it in a small smuggling boat (around 1680)

King George I (1714 ish) offered the longitude prize to whoever could find a way to measure it at sea.

Lord Mountbatten (Prince Philip's Uncle) had to resign as First Sea Lord at the beginning of WWI on account of being German. He came back to be Supreme Allied Commander of South East Asia in WWII, oversaw independence for India and Pakistan and was killed in a boat bomb by the IRA in 1979.

Prince Andrew (now) was a combat helicopter pilot in the Falklands War on HMS Invincible. He was Captain of HMS Cottesmore, and he is now a Commander in the Diplomacy Section of the Royal Navy. James Bond is also a Commander in the Royal Navy - is Price Andrew a spy ?

Beetbraved the Radio Gremlins and managed to deliver his dive report, free of beeps and crackles. Officially ACE, fabulous ocean diving, as opposed to the Bay, which is crap. While the his is good, the temperature is not, unless of course you are an ice cube (water temperature hovering around 12 degrees)
