We got off to an interesting start with some issues about Druids being common in Melbourne, and what they drove, and whether they are "The Deep" or "The Brave". Bron and Anth appear to be having some issues with reality, but it seems strangely calming. The weather report indicates heading out on the bay would require a total absence of brains and commonsense.

Aphrodite - the roving Albatross has returned to the race to South Africa, almost at the finish line, but has been disqualified for being off the air for too long - probably tampered with by a punter (as if).

Scientists have found a new fish that is 150-180 million years old of the coast of South America. Coincidentally, the re-discoverer of the coelacanth died at the age of 97.

Victoria has a new Uni Degree in the Marine Environment - Deakin has established a new Bachelor of Environmental Science (Marine Biology). The degree will maximise on the fantastic aspects of the marine environment available in Warrnambool to bring a dynamic course looking at the relationship of marine organisms with their biological, physical and chemical environment, and the impact of humans on on these ecosystems. The course will be chock full of field work and opportunities for students to study marine species in their natural environments.

Watch out for the field trips that seem to be snorkeling holidays to Queensland.

Places will be limited to 30 so the competition will be hot. The degree starts next year, so if you want more information contact Sue Frances or via the Deakin switchboard
