Anth and Bron set sail on a sunny Melbourne morning for the land of small hangovers and heavy sleeping babies !!

Nothing much happened in the marine world, except more Cuban's tried to drive to the US in a converted car, and three Thai fisherman were killed by the stench of the fish they had caught.

The next reefwatch seminar is Sharks, Rays and Chimeras. June 27th at 4:45 at the Aquarium for a mere $5. There is an extra door prize of a dive with the sharks. The question is - name two sharks species that lay eggs and are present in Victoria.

An the deadline for the short stories has been extended to the 23rd to be announced on the 26th.

Customs found a woman smuggling fish at Tullamarine Airport. She had 51 live fish in plastic bags canceled in an apron.

The Poms have discovered that fish are not as dumb as they thought. And there is now evidence of female dolphins teaching their daughters to use sponges as tools when they are

 

Sat 18th at 11 am is the date for the next orientation for potential volunteers.

The winter holiday program is a bit low key to prevent participants getting too cold. It kicks off on Mon 27th, with crafts, mud flat meanders and biology cruises.

Andy and her teaching collegues have developed a program across a range of subjects and chose to use marine creatures and environment

Cappuchino - a seahourse with feet and butterfly wings, where the female carries the babies.

Glow fish - which lives on reefs and looks like a mixture of Dory and Nemo.

Port Marinas Monster - all the equipment needed to let it eat whales, sharks and people - both in the marine and freshwater environment.
