Anth and Bron are back in the studio - Bron battling a real nasty gastro, so much of the discussion was about vomit - which seems to be the theme of the day. The word of the week is Viler - a bulb like larve with cillia on each end.

Ambergris is whale vomit, a waxy bile like product that whales spit up. It is used by the perfume industry as a binder and for its aphrodisiac qualities. Who first worked this out must have had a few issues. It has a mossy, damp forest odour. The aged stuff is much better than the fresh lumps which tend to be black and smelly. It is made from the left over beaks of squid, where the whale has coated the to protect their stomachs from the sharp beaks.

Seals vomit, and it is really bad. Parrotfish vomit or regurgitate bits of coral, perhaps the marine equivalent of a cement mixer - and watch out for those gannets.....

Marine Life ! - Set up at the Museum to get people excited about the sea in their own back yard.

At the beginning you walk under a curved projection of what it is like to be underwater. From there you move into a breakout room full of the different habitats of the local area. Each contains video of the areas, key inhabitants, and 4 draws that tell the stories of what happens - including specimens of the different organisms. You can even touch casts of the beasts.

Mealtime is about who eats who, and how they get away from each. It contains the worlds smallest shark (smaller than a cigar), and just wanders up to whales and takes a bit and runs away. That leads to tool time - showing the comparison between what they do and the tools we use as humans.

The Hall of Horrors is about the stories of some of the weird things that like out in the twilight zone - the most common habitat in the world.

Finally, there is a female giant squid, being hunted by a whale.

The exhibition should run for the next 10 years, but go and see it early, late and often.

This is been a myth for the last three thousand years and it turns out to be real - dolphins !

The first pictures were in a bathroom in Crete in 1600BC. Homer wrote about them in stories about Apollo. They impacted on literature from all of ancient Europe to the the hippy poems of the late 20th century...
