Eden was a whaling port las century, and they whalers had some unusual assistance from Tom and his mates. Tom and his mates were killer whales, and they used to herd whales to near the station, go and get the whalers, even tow the whalers out to the whales and then help kill the whale. Why - apparently the lips and tongues were a delicacy and Tom and the crew got more than their fair share !

Who was exploiting who ? Well, when Tom died the whaling station closed - they could not catch whales so it looks like Tom and co were using the whalers rather than vica versa.
